Play all day

Every child needs some creative space. We are very fortunate to have a playroom for the boys. It is not very big, but it is their own little haven where they can play all day. Moving into the house, it was a blank canvas with white walls. I decided that it would be the perfect surprise for their 3rd birthday to decorate it and paint the walls.
Needless to say, they loved it! Here is the result...
Next to their table and chairs.
Close to the bookshelf.
On the left, next to the giraffe is a place where we measure them. Each year on their birthday we do the official measuring to see how much they've grown the past year.
Our numbers train.
They love trains and this is a fun way for them to start recognize the different numbers.

Here are close-up's of some of the other animals in the room.

And then no playroom is complete without proper space to store all those o-so-important stuff. Since my boys love to draw or paint, I've decided to use some old reclaimed wood and tin cans to solve the problem.
and for the bags and caps...
Hope you enjoy seeing the results as much as I enjoyed painting them, and the kids playing there.

DIY Hooded towel

So all moms know the all so important wonder of the hooded towel. Not only for bath time, but in summer it is one of those must-have items.

Since the boys outgrew their store bought towels to the point where it doesn't fit over their heads, this mom turned to Pinterest to find the answer.
Hooded monster towel with enough room to grow!

I am no seamstress, so it had to be easy!
I also don't have an overlocker, and a sewing machine that can no longer zig-zag. It needed to be super easy. I found a very easy to follow tutorial at Crazylittleprojects.com, so I am not going to share the step-by-step instructions again. But I would like to share the result.

Both boys were so proud of their towels and they are now the envy of our friends. I even had a couple of parents asking me if I would make some for their kids.

Hhmmmm, maybe another business opportunity?
